Fat Loss & Body Contouring

Americans in general are fatter than ever. It seems like we are always looking for an easy and effective way to lose weight. Post menopausal women and men in midlife often are plagued with belly fat that seems impossible to lose, while 90% of young women suffer from cellulite. Often overweight men will develop fat deposits in their breasts which do not seem to respond to weight loss. Throughout our lives, but especially in midlife, unwanted fat accumulates in our abdomens, derrieres, faces and thighs. Cold Laser fat removal can make a significant improvement in these conditions regardless of age, especially when coupled with other weight loss strategies, such as Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN).

Unlike invasive weight loss surgery such as liposuction, laser liposuction, lapband or gastric bypass, Cold Laser Therapy (Low Level Light Therapy) is applied painlessly and externally. There are NO excisions or medications associated with this therapy. The risks associated with surgery or anesthesia are eliminated, and it is safe for almost anyone including those with autoimmune disease, arthritis, and even diabetes! In fact, the hormone that is produced in the fat around the gut that makes diabetics insensitive to insulin may actually be DECREASED with Cold Laser Therapy! Treatment is relaxing and painless. It is FDA approved[1] and noninvasive, so you may go back to your normal daily activities immediately after treatment without fatigue, soreness, or lack of cognitive awareness.

[1] Results of a pilot study were presented to the American Society of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery in 2008, and the procedure has received FDA clearance to be used in the United States.

How Does It Work?

Voluminous adipose tissue can appear when fatty material is present, and this, in turn, can bring about enlarged subcutaneous fat regions causing cellulite, saddlebags, beer bellies, etc. Because this fat is close to the skin's surface, laser emulsification can have a dramatic effect. The collapse of adipose tissue is noted after laser therapy, reducing its volume.

What You Should Expect: Sessions

As I have already mentioned treatment with the LLT is painless. Our first session includes a 30 minute consultation to determine the best manner in which to use Cold laser Therapy to maximize the results for your body type, weight, and target fat loss. Depending on the areas of your body you wish to contour, each session takes between 30 minutes to one hour. The laser is applied to the targeted area, such as the waist, hips, or thighs for 15 minutes. The patient then turns over and the very same treatment is applied to the opposite side. The minimum treatment period is generally two weeks, with three full sessions each week. For your convenience, our office hours are flexible with early and late session times to accommodate your work or home responsibilities.

What You Should Expect: Experience

Most of my patients have described the session as relaxing. A number elect to have meditation training during the sessions, while others use the time to catch up on phone calls with friends and business acquaintances.  You are always welcome to listen to music (each of my treatment rooms has a stereo and a selection of music to suit your listening needs), or just close your eyes, rest and relax.

During the procedure, you simply lay in a comfortable position for 15 to 20 minutes per side, while the cold laser  contours your body.  After the treatment, some of my patients say they feel "different" and lighter, while most tell me that the areas treated feel "softer" immediately after therapy. To help prepare your body, I suggest that you increase your fiber and water intake leading up to the procedure to increase the speed of results, and I encourage a footbath or massage immediately following treatment when and if possible to increase circulation and maximize fat removal.
